  Brüel & Kjær hydrophones are individually calibrated
waterborne-sound transducers which have a flat frequency response and are omnidirectional over a wide
frequency range. Their construction is such that they
are absolutely waterproof and have high corrosion resistance. All Brüel & Kjær hydrophones are manufactured using lead-free nitrile butadiene rubber. There are
four types of hydrophone:
Type 8103 is suitable for high-frequency laboratory
and industrial use and particularly for the acoustic
study of marine animals or for cavitation
Type 8104 is a general purpose hydrophone, also
ideal for calibration purposes
Type 8105 is a robust spherical hydrophone usable
down to 1000 m ocean depth with excellent
directional characteristics
Type 8106 has a built-in amplifier which gives a
signal suitable for transmission over long cables. It
is usable down to 1000 m ocean depth

LAN-XI Notar — BZ-7848-A  

 Stand-alone Time Data Recorder Add-on for use with LAN-XI Modules

  Expanding on the LAN-XI platform, LAN-XI Notar BZ-7848-A
allows you to record time data to a memory card in a LAN-XI
module. This means that the LAN-XI module is the entire
measurement system, a very small and rugged data recorder.
BZ-7848-A works with all LAN-XI modules. It includes a 16 GB
microSD card with miniSD and SD adaptors, UL-1018. Stored
data can be either transferred by placing the memory card in a
PC card reader or downloading over the LAN connection.
LAN-XI Notar has the benefits of LAN-XI hardware:
• 160 dB dynamic range with Dyn-X LAN-XI module
• Built-in signal conditioning for microphones (polarized and
DeltaTron), accelerometers (DeltaTron and Charge) and
Tachometers (self, externally and DeltaTron powered)
• Advanced overload detection of level, signal conditioning and
out of band overloads
The recorder is set up (bandwidth, number of channels, signal
conditioning, etc.) through the module's home page. This means
that any PC, PDA or Smartphone with browser can be used (may
require wireless access point or 3G modem).
Once the recorder is set up, the PC, PDA or Smartphone
browser can control recording and display feedback. The LAN-XI
module's button and LCD screen can also be used for control
and feedback. Since there is no need to change channel input
ranges, control is much simpler than with previous recorders.
The included 16 GB card allows nearly four hours of recording
with six channels at 25.6 kHz bandwidth (51.2 kHz sampling
frequency). Larger microSD cards allow even longer recording
sessions. Since the memory card is removable, it is simple to
upgrade the memory or use multiple cards. Multiple cards allow
you to analyse recordings on one card while new recordings are
made on another.
With the optional LAN-XI Battery Module Type 2831-A, the
system has an extremely long measurement time of over seven
hours. For longer recording sessions, the battery can be replaced
in the field and chargers are available for both mains and
external DC (for example, in-vehicle) charging.

PULSE Software and Literature Overview
The base measurement software for a PULSE system is PULSE FFT & CPB Analysis Type 7700. Separate FFT
and CPB licenses are also available as FFT Analysis Type 7770 and CPB Analysis Type 7771. On this base,
you can install PULSE application software such as Time Data Recorder Type 7708. Table 1 illustrates the
range of application software available for use with PULSE systems.
With a PULSE Software Maintenance and Support Agreement (M1) you can ensure that your PULSE
installation is kept updated to the latest security updates from Microsoft® as well as having access to a
global network of specialists, with experience from more than 13,000 PULSE systems in a multitude of
application and test configurations. Details of the PULSE Software Maintenance and Support Agreement
are given in
BP 1800.
We strongly recommend that you update your PULSE installation to the latest major release to ensure that
the latest security updates from Microsoft® are supported by your installation.

 Hand-held Analyzer Types 2250-W and 2270-W for Vibration Measurements

Types 2250‐W and 2270‐W are the easy, safe and clever approach to machinery noise and vibration assessment, diagnostics and quality control. The analyzers combine advanced analysis techniques, tap‐and‐drag operation and a wide dynamic range to become the perfect on‐location machine vibration tool. Acceleration, velocity, and displacement are parameters traditionally used to assess a machine's health when initially installed or after maintenance, repair or overhaul (MRO). The Crest Factor is used to detect and diagnose defects in roller element bearings. Frequency analysis based on the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm is an advanced tool for measurement and diagnostics of machinery noise and vibration. The frequency ‘profile’ of a machine is its fingerprint, revealing its sources of noise and vibration and their paths to the measurement position.

 TYPE 9699


Designed for calibration of laboratory standard microphones.

A primary level microphone calibration system for calibration of laboratory standard microphones. The system, Type 9699, applies the pressure reciprocity calibration technique and calibrates to the highest possible accuracy. A free-field system is available as Type 9799.

Type 9699 performs pressure reciprocity calibration according to the method described in IEC 61094-2 to determine the pressure sensitivity of microphones described in IEC 61094-1 (Laboratory Standard Microphones). The system is intended for National Metrology Institutes and other high-level laboratories. It is a turnkey system for routine measurements, which can be set up to meet the requirements of the user. The system can work in a ‘normal’ laboratory environment with no specific precautions with respect to background noise and vibration.

Designed for calibration of working standard microphones and other types of microphone.

A secondary level microphone calibration system for calibration of working standard microphones and other types of microphone. The system, Type 9721-A, applies the comparison method for sensitivity calibration and the electrostatic actuator method for frequency response calibration.

Type 9721-A is a general-purpose microphone calibration system for calibration of working standard microphones described in IEC 61094-4, laboratory standard microphones described in IEC 61094-1 and other non-standard microphones. The system is intended for calibration service centres and owners of large amounts of microphones. The sensitivity of the microphone is measured by the pressure comparison method described in IEC 61094-5 and the frequency response is measured by the electrostatic actuator method described in IEC 61094-6.

 TYPE 3629 WITH TYPE 5308


An automatic calibration system providing traceable calibration of transducers using comparison to a reference transducer according to ISO 16063-21.

 Vibration Transducer Calibration System Type 3629 with Vibration Transducer Calibration Software Type 5308 is an easy-to-use, automatic calibration system that provides traceable calibration of a wide range of transducers using comparison to a reference transducer according to ISO 16063-21.

The hardware for the basic system consists of a PULSE™ LAN-XI front-end, which provides the necessary inputs and generator output, suitable conditioners, a power amplifier and an exciter. Vibration Transducer Calibration Software Type 5308 runs on the PC with no external processing. The operating system used can be Microsoft® Windows® XP, 7, 8 or 10 in 32- and 64-bit versions providing familiar user interfaces. ISO 17025 compatible certificates can be printed. A Microsoft® Access database is used for the storage and organization of data. Microsoft® Word is used for the generation of certificates, making modifications easy and permitting printing on most printers.
